The Fairview/Marino branch of mens sheds organisation meet every Wednesday from 11:00 am to 1:00pm in St. Vincents.
What is a mens shed? It’s best described by themselves on their website:
A Men’s Shed is any community-based, non-commercial organisation which is open to all men where the primary activity is the provision of a safe, friendly and inclusive environment where the men are able to gather and/or work on meaningful projects at their own pace, in their own time and in the company of other men and where the primary objective is to advance the health and well- being of the participating men. Men’s sheds may look like a shed in you back yard yet they innovatively share some characteristics of both community education and health promotion projects.
The Fairview/Marino branch described themselves as a “social men’s shed” as they don’t currently have a working space. Its an open group, and they don’t limit their members to people from Marino/Fairview (nor do they limit their members to men)
They arrange regular outings, social get togethers and educational talks.
They welcome new members all the time – you don’t need to know anyone, nor do you need to ring ahead. Simply turn up to St. Vincents any Wednesday at 11:00 am, pull up a chair and introduce yourself over a cup of tea or coffee.
