A message from the Club Executive
A lot has been happening in the club over an exciting few months.
We have formalised our relationship with Bank of Ireland and we look forward to a mutually beneficial partnership in the years to come.
Our Senior Hurling & Football teams have new management and we wish them all the best. The Senior Footballers were led to phenomenal success by Tommy Conroy, Seán Brady and their team and we thank them for their years of service.
We launched a new range of club gear in partnership with the GAAStore.com and our online shop is now up and running. Bulk/team orders and jersey orders can be placed through Deirdre Nolan or at Club order days.
Three weeks ago saw a hugely successful Strictly St Vincents. This was an historic night, filling out Croke Park and Áras Naomh Uinsionn with St Vincents’ friends and family. Thanks to everyone involved – the organisers, judges, volunteers and, of course, the dancers. We look forward to similar events in the future.
The drive to raise the funds to build our all-weather pitch on PNU2 is continuing. The pitch development group has been working tirelessly and has successfully raised a very significant proportion of the money needed. They are continuing to raise funds from corporate and other sources to achieve our target. We haven’t yet reached the target for members’ contributions and that is currently an obstacle to the successful completion of the project. This will be a facility for all of our members and we ask all members who haven’t yet contributed to make a contribution of whatever amount, large or small, that they can afford. The sooner the capital is raised, the sooner the project can start.
It was hoped that we would be over the line earlier this year and therefore no maintenance works were carried out on PNU2 last year. In order to ensure that the pitch can continue to be used in what we hope will be the short period until we have raised the necessary funds for the all-weather, it is essential that necessary remedial works be carried out as soon as possible. Those works will start on the 6th June and will involve the closure of PNU2 for approximately 6 weeks. This is during the quiet period and will ensure that we have the use of PNU2 for the second half of the season. It does mean that we will be down one pitch for a number of weeks and this will cause some inconvenience. If we work together we will be able to overcome any difficulties. If members get behind the project with added vigour, it is hoped that the pitch may be replaced with the all-weather before the start of next season.
Some works will also be carried out to PNU1 but they will be done later in the summer and we will keep members updated about this.
Thanks to everyone involved in the Club. Our continued success depends on the selfless work that each and every one of our volunteers do for the Club and its members.
